about

Free download of cassette based clowning. Handheld recorder horseplay. Tape player tomfoolery.

I found an old variable speed tape recorder in my garage. I think I used it in the 90s to make punk demos and record band practice. It hardly works and will soon breakdown completely - I identify with it. I thought I'd spend it's, and ultimately all of our, no doubt scarce remaining days focused on experimentation for the sake of fun, running it through guitar pedals and whatnot. I also bought a digital handheld recorder for field recording that I'm trying to learn to use. I'm going to keep dumping tape experiments here as long as I keep having a good time making them. Some of this may show up in some form on future releases, idk.

"Instruments": tape player with speed control, tape player without speed control, drum machine, various guitar pedals, Audacity, 303 and 808 emulating software

I did some of these experiments using a tape of my EP Paper Commitments by the way, which you can get as a download here:

and a tape here:

Thanks to everyone who bought any of my stuff, especially the Paper Commitments tape (I spent that money on records and a drum machine, if you give me more money I might might buy more tape recorders and a synth, and I will also definitely buy more records), and thanks as well to everyone who has come to one of the FEAST noise-and-sundry online shows.

Special thanks to Jase Kester, Kirk Markarian, Dom Taylor, and BLACKCLOUDSUMMONER.

By the way, because the whole point of making jokes is to explain them, the title's a reference to the old joke "home taping is killing the music industry - and it's easy!"
